Mikkel Kessler will fight for the vacant WBA super middleweight title against the unbeaten Dimitri Sartison on June 21 in his first bout since losing his WBC crown to Joe Calzaghe last November.

The bout will take place on home soil for the Viking Warrior at the Brondby Hallen in Copenhagen.

Kazakhstan-born Sartison has accumulated an unbeaten 22-fight record, with 14 stoppages, though his only win over a fighter approaching world class was his narrow ten-round points victory in his adopted home of Germany against Venezuelan Gusmyl Perdomo.

Kessler was set to meet former middleweight contender Edison Miranda in a bout in May, but pulled out, it is thought, when he found out that Anthony Mundine was vacating the WBA title.

Mundine has opted to give up the belt to fight a rematch with fellow Australian Sam Soliman.

Miranda is now meeting Arthur Abraham for the second time, after the German defeated him in an IBF middleweight title challenge in 2006, on the same night in Florida at a catch-weight of 166 pounds.

Victory for Miranda could set up a bout with Kessler or Sartison at super middleweight, though IBF champion Lucien Bute, Jermain Taylor and WBC number one contender Carl Froch could also feature in the mix as this weight division enters its post-Joe Calzaghe era.
